Fall is the perfect time for planting natives & creating a Habitat in your own backyard!
Join us on Saturday, September 29th from 10am-1pm, to choose from a wide selection of California native plants for your home landscape. Members of the California Native Plant Society will be on hand to answer questions & suggest plants for your specific location.
25% of proceeds will go towards supporting the ongoing environmental education work of MEarth in our community.
Join us this SUMMER to gain some hands-on experience & knowledge for your home garden by volunteering at MEarth!
Wednesdays from 1pm-4pm at The Habitat at Carmel Middle School (Google map directions)
The first volunteer day is June 20 and will continue every Wednesday until August 1.

MEarth will stage its second-annual “Dinner in the Vineyard” fundraiser on Saturday, June 9, at Bernardus Lodge in Carmel Valley. All proceeds support the stewardship of the Hilton Bialek Habitat at Carmel Middle School and sustainability education for Monterey County youth. Unique to this event will be a zero-waste reception and dinner, forging a partnership of MEarth, Bernardus Lodge, and The Offset Project. The locally-based Offset Project helps “green” events to reduce energy consumption – a key area of focus for MEarth and Bernardus Lodge.
Dinner in the Vineyard is MEarth’s premier, annual fundraiser that benefits the thousands of students, teachers, neighbors and volunteers from across Monterey County who experience, learn, and grow with MEarth at the Hilton Bialek Habitat. On Saturday, June 9, 2012, MEarth will host its second-annual Dinner in the Vineyard fundraiserat Bernardus Lodge in Carmel Valley. The year’s event will be phenomenal – highlighted by a dinner beyond compare, by our Honorary Co-Chair, Chef Cal Stamenov, with locally-sourced sustainable food, featuring vegetables from The Habitat’s own organic garden!Last year’s attendees are still talking about the incredible meal, beautiful locale, terrific silent and live auction items, and community support.

Details: Did you know that organic materials represent one-third of what goes into the landfill? By composting your yard trimmings and food scraps you can dramatically reduce waste and at the same time produce a free nutrient rich soil amendment for your plants and garden.
The Backyard Compost Workshop will teach you the basics of composting yard waste & kitchen scraps using both commercially made compost bins and handmade designs. The workshop will provide information on starting and maintaining a home compost bin, troubleshooting, ideas on using finished compost, and the opportunity to see working compost bins.

Chef John Cox and his team from Casanova Restaurant will create an unforgettable meal, highlighting local ingredients (many grown in our surrounding gardens). Students will help harvest veggies and work side-by-side with the chefs to craft this unique dining experience.
MEarth relies on private donations from people like you, to keep our doors open and provide remarkable programs and services to the Carmel Unified School District and the broader Monterey Peninsula Community. The MEarth nonprofit has been selected to participate in an exciting fundraising initiative sponsored by the Monterey County Weekly called “Monterey County GIVES 2011”.

Through this initiative, MEarth is rolling out our “THRIVE WITH $5” campaign to get our community to donate $5 (or more!) to support our school garden at The Habitat, which provides our students, staff, and families access to fresh, local, organic, and seasonal fruits and veggies in cooking classes, garden tastings, afterschool farmer’s markets, and the school cafeteria.
An evening celebrating local, sustainable, Food & Wine. Featuring Food Grown in the MEarth Gardens. All proceeds will help MEarth support our kids as they change the world. This event will include a live and silent auction featuring incomparable Eco -Adventures.
