School couldn't get any better than this! Our 6th grade Ecoliteracy students were joined, this week, by a team of chefs from La Bicyclette Restaurant to make a delicious and sustainable meal fresh from the garden. Classmates ventured out into the surrounding gardens to pluck a seasonal assortment of veggies and edible flowers to adorn the tops of their pizzas and salad bowls. They then teamed up, in pairs, to make their very own pizza with a gourmet selection of cheeses and other toppings from the restaurant kitchens and sent it into the wood-fired pizza oven. After a few short minutes, their edible masterpieces emerged, still bubbling, and students enjoyed their meal, while discussing local farmers markets and other sustainable food sources.
